Recap: Picnic + Chill, August 2026

Techwerkers came together for a picnic, and to chill. We also had a mini unconference where we talked about the things techwerkers wanted to talk about.

Techwerkers had a meetup back in August of this year where we got together, chatted, and ate some delicious foods.

As with most techwerkers events, we don’t know how many people would show up. If it was just the 4 or 5 of us, it would have been fun, but there were up to 19 people there at one point (which made it more fun of course!). This is a small shoutout for future events, if you aren’t sure if you’ll know anyone, then you’re not alone.

We met up Jagerplas, a small nature park north east of Zaandam, north west of Amsterdam. The weather was patches of blue sky, but not blaring heat. The early people got there at around 11:30 to set up a tent to sit under when the sun was out. We had some music, food, and drinks to share.

At around 2pm we did a small unconference for those that were interested. For the uninitiated: our unconference was an inpromptu gathering where people list some topics, people vote on the topics to talk about, people split up into discussion groups to talk for a half hour, then come back and share what the broad strokes of the conversation were. We won’t share the details of those conversations, however here is a picture of what was on peoples mind.
